  1. No special seal. I glued (special glue) 5mm think spanish cedar on the inside of the cabinets. I routed out the edge for the doors so that the glass would fit flush with the back of the door. I then glued another 5mm piece of spanish cedar over the glass. The tricky part was custom fitting the cedar to the doors as I wanted it to be milimetre perfect. I use magent latches to hold the door shut. I'll try and take a photo of the inside of the door and post it.
  2. Used the ozone machine on the weekend (it was just a cheapie $99 one from ebay) and it worked a treat. Mine only has a two hour timer and it needs two runs and absolutely no smoke smell. It does leave an "ozone" smell though which is just different. Once a candle is used or some airflow (open up the window) it goes back to normal. I think it may be the absense of smell that smells wierd after the machine runs. I can't believe that such a little machine can get rid of cigar smoke. My wife hates smoke smell and could smell it down the road. Even she couldn't smell smoke (she was out for the weekend while I trialled it to see). She did say it smelt different but it wasn't a smoke smell.
  3. Not sure of the CFM, the specs say 320m3 per hour. Its just a normal bathroom exhaust fan (DE225 dete electrical from Bunnings). Because there are only two chairs and probably just me, I wasn't worried too much about the exhaust. When I have smoked (heavy smoke cigar) there was no issue with too much smoke in the room. The exhaust fan took it straight out.
  4. G'day Everyone, Been a long time between posts and thought I would share a write up of my Den. I finished (its never really finished though) it early 2017. Thanks too for everyone in my previous thread about finding some Spanish cedar in Brisbane. I do have a bit of it left if anyone is interested. It's mainly if 50mm x 50mm lengths, the lengths and widths are various though. The beginning 3m x 3.4m study. I built three and a half full cabinets. Each cabinet has a separate top and bottom. Built out of QLD Cedar plywood. The bar cabinet also has led lights that light up the bottles and the display cabinet has downlights. The humidor is lined with 5mm Spanish cedar and there are two separate humidors, each with a USB port. The top one is active and the bottom one is for storing other stuff at the moment. I use an oasis magna and I jerry-rigged up a couple of 120mm fans to replace the noisy 40mm ones that came with the unit. I can go into more detail around the build if anyone wants. The best thing is sitting back relaxing and watching tv. The chesterfields are comfy (they took about 6 months to find 2nd hand). The room has a ceiling exhaust fan with a tube that goes out to the eve. I've smoked a couple of times in there (the better half hates the smell of smokes). I've just got an ozone machine and I hope that is going to fix the smell issue and I will be able to smoke in the room anytime I want. Room is fingerprint locked (Gold Lion lock) to keep the kids out.
  5. Blantons single barrel has one release in USA which is "original" at approx 45% abv. Outside of the US we get three more to choose from, Private Select approx 40% abv, gold approx 51% abv and straight from the barrel approx 62% abv. All blanton's come from mash bill no.2 from buffalo trace. There are are few others from this mash bill, like elmer t lee as well. Buffalo trace also has mash bill no.1 which buffalo trace, eagle rare, stagg jr, etc. Be careful too as some imports to Australia reduce the ABV, ie. Makers mark 45% to 40%, buffalo trace 45% to 40%, woodford reserve 45% to 40%, bulleit 45% to 40%. I think it's crap that Australia gets screwed over to make an extra buck. Some of those above do taste different at the higher abv as well. I'm not a total bourbon nerd, but I just came back from Lousiville and did about 10 bourbon tours, hence the info.
  6. Thanks Everyone for your help. I found a guy, it was the last of his collection.
  7. Thanks rckymtn22. I did do a search but only found one place in Sydney, which doesn't stock it anymore. They said it was a controlled species. Do you know of any inparticular?
  8. Thanks Partriar, They don't seem to stock it. Will keep looking.
  9. Does anybody know where to buy some in Brisbane, or even in Australia to then get shipped to Brisbane. I'm looking at making a floor to ceiling humidor. 2100mm high x 800mm wide x 450mm deep (approximate). I am building three of these, one for the humidor and two for bourbon bottles and display cabinet. I was thinking of making with pine and then lining the humidor one with the spanish cedar. The alternative is making all three with spanish cedar, but I think it will be too expensive. I haven't worked out the humidification setup yet (electric or otherwise). Just concentrating on building the cabinets for the den and then I'll work out the rest, i.e. ventilation for the room, etc. Thanks.
