  1. ...what impresses me is Padron (1926 or 1964) - in the hand it feels under filled and you expect a quick smoke. In reality it is tons of smoke for a pretty long time. Would love cubans producing such reliable quality....
  2. Slightly box pressed doesn't role away in windy conditions...... Like RASCC and RASS that are definitely not round, round D4 and 898 not less
  3. 2-5 per week, depending on wind and rain...
  4. Have a box of #2 in my rotation since some time and like the cigar. Just recently added a box of #1. First samples seemed a lot lighter and "flatter", even though I prefer the format....
  5. HdM Churchill from 2001. Smooth, with tight draw since full of tobacco...
  6. Sir Winston (but hard to get) - Mag46 is second
  7. Like Edmundo (seems more consistent than no2). Like the format of no3
  8. ....had about 10 different cutters. Finally decided as long as my fingers are healthy, I don't need them any more.
  9. My personal challenges: -which single one or two cigars I should purchase to how do I avoid buying too many boxes -how to adjust humidity in my small humidor (fear of mold). Meanwhile I added beads to keep @ 65RH and everything is fine (and for storage capacity a new cabinet is under construction...) -how to cut (and which cutter to use). Now I use my finger nails - never let me down.... -thought initially you need to keep drawing to keep burning. With lower RH at storage burn is now no problem any more. Slow down and enjoy the additional flavors
  10. To me BPC and shorts are totally different things. I get more "punch" from the shorts than BPC (the latter smoke very smoothly).Would never buy a box without knowing the cigar. Go for a sampler and enjoy the discovery. Also when starting with CCs your taste and preferences will evolve quickly. My first cuban was Open Regata which I liked a lot, tried Bolivars and disliked. Now I have Bolivar boxes in my cabinet, but would not spend any Euro on Open series.....
  11. Bolivar PC Then shorts and RASCC Monte media is not bad....
  12. Another D4 today - looking at the other posts I am not alone :-)) Like the shiny wrapper
  13. Mostly more than an hour (rather 75min) after 2 years of deliberate practice (a golf mate once gave me the advice to "slow down and enjoy the additional distance" - I would say for cigars it is "slow down and enjoy the additional flavor")
  14. ...it did indeed match well - petrol notes of this 15 years old Remigiusberg made it strong enough to compete with the cigar (which I found rather smooth). Should work well with HU as well, but certainly not Partagas. ....did not expect anyone here who knows Tesch..... You are familiar with the older ones or more Martin's new generation like unplugged etc.?
  15. Great review. For me Monti clearly wins over HUHC (the latter had low profile for me). Had a 2015 media with nearly maduro shade, and smoked already great ROOT. Thumbs up (even though too expensive for the time)
  16. ...also in France sometimes you're down under on a Friday....
  17. HdM Epi2 AME SEP13 In France we call this a "gouter" (afternoon snack).
  18. I concur with that: the flagship wine is supposed to be always the best (versus e.g. the second wine). And what is exciting is to see how while general character remains the same, from year to year there are differences. The way they manage is selection. What does not qualify for the top wine comes into the second. Not so familiar with cigar making - but is this how Partagas differentiates between e.g. Shorts (which in my view are close to D4 from taste point of view) and the cheaper ones like mille fleurs?Difference with wine: prices vary from year to year, so somewhat you pay less if year is bad.....
  19. My favorite Partagas. Had a first 10-box PMS Nov13 last summer and was shocked that I picked the last a week ago. Never had an aged one, so can just guess, the refill with 25 OPG JUN14 will likely not become too much of age before they turn into smoke and ashes.... Still quite new in CCs but loved 898 from the beginning, even though pretty strong....
  20. Thanks
