  1. This is the one that always got me. Its even worse now that I am a father.
  2. Pretty sure its not the PG and its set up for 70% humi, no prob, and there is zero smell coming from it. I am pretty sure its the old boxes. They must have absorbed something sitting down in the cave, possibly the cedar too. I am not sure on the cedar, thinking about removing it just in case.
  3. So I got a big rubbermaid bin, cleaned it out nicely. No smell, no probs. Added in a few bits of cedar from boxes I had left over and couple extra empty boxes plus a plastic container with some foral oasis and PG solution. After leaving it over a couple of days there is a smell. I can't quite place it, its not plastic, its almost like its very weak cedar smell, so weak that it smells off. My wife thinks it smells like paint, normal household paint but I dont get that from it at all. I am thinking it might be the empty boxes. I had them down in my cave and its possible they are the cause, since the container with the pg solution has no smell at all. Thoughts?

    Cedar

Yeah I was wondering if the smell would be too much for them. Thanks!

    Cedar

So I am getting ready to finish up with my ghetto tupperdore and I was thinking. I have a pack of untreated cedar planks for my grill still in the package. Now obviously its not spanish cedar but it still has that nice cedar smell, I was thinking about maybe laying some on the bottom and along the sides of the tupperdore after wiping down the sides with water and after placing the extra sheets of spanish cedar and broken down boxes in to help. What do you think?
  6. I am working on my first tupperdore ever right now. Picked up a mid sized rubbermaid roughneck. I cleaned it out last night with a few tours of dish soap, hot water rinses and there wasn't anything noticable. But I closed it up and when I get home from work I will check and probably do a once over with baking soda and another rinse. On a similar topic I picked up a big brick of wet floral oasis. I got a bottle of PG coming in today or tomorrow but I am not sure what size I should cut the floral oasis. I am doing a real getto job on this tupperdore. The size of the rubbermaid is around 24x16x16.5 in I'd say.
  7. Here is a pic I took right as I opened the box And here is one I just took, grabbing 3 random ones out to take a pic of the back of the bands
  8. Ah ok, I was trying to think up how it could have happened before it was shipped out and I just couldnt think of it, but I have very little knowledge on the process.
  9. yeah I did exactly that, they are in my deep freeze now, plan on keeping them in there for a week or so, then fridge for a day or 2 and then in the humi.
  10. In the freezer now, I've never seen just a single cigar with the beetle hole before so I was curious. Thanks!
  11. Hey everyone. So I opened up my newest box and it looks great but 1 cigar, and only one has a beetle hole. No beetle body to be found. So I was wondering would you take the chance putting the remaining cigars in the humidor and check daily or freeze them all right away.

  20. This is mine 2, I've tried several sticks twice incase I had a bad batch, just not a fan.
  21. its about 21-22C on my humi at around 68%. Its teh only one in my humi that was like that, the wrapper did seem very thin though.
  22. Hey all, so the other night I had a HPU ep.2 (which I found fantastic dispite the following) and it was sitting in my humi for a few months. When I took it out I saw the first layer of the wrapper was cracked, no biggie so I lit up and enjoyed myself. First thing I noticed to my untrained eye was that there seemed to be a small area thicker once I sliced it, the draw seemed a bit off too, but not by much so I chalked it up to my imagination and continued. As I was enjoying the cigar I noticed a few other parts of the wrapper cracked on the first layer, again no biggie but I didnt notice it before. Once I got to the halfway point (ash stayed on all the way to 2/3rds btw) I saw a very clear split that continued until I was finished. So I was wondering, could this be a overly dry cigar I picked up? Could it have a dry wrapper and overfilled so once the heat started going it expanded and split? I am more curious than anything.
