  1. I was at game 4. Big Boston fan here. It was quite an experience.
  2. » Hello everyone, » » I am a longtime lurker on several forums and I have especially enjoyed » reading the wit and wisdom displayed on this one. It is amazing how much » you can learn by reading the threads, following leads, checking out » websites, etc., and I hope I can add to the discussions without making the » usual newb errors. » » I have been enjoying cigars for about five years and have been discovering » habanos more and more over the past four. Experiences at the LCDH shops in » Vancouver, Montreal and Cabo and visits to the great shops in London have » converted me. I have recently been into BRC, BBF, Monte 2 and always » Party Shorts (which I enjoy saying out loud). » » I hope to someday post a witty, insightful, soul-stirring cigar review » without plagirizing El Prez. » » Cheers, » » Dave Welcome, Fellow Denver Coloradoan here.
  3. Welcome...I live in Denver as well.
  4. The US needs more women like Lisa.
  5. » There was a great deal of criticism as to the smoking qualities of the » initial Habanos 2000 wrappers. Thick, burn resistant, bitter. With 5-7 » years of age on these now, what is the consensus? Have they turned the » corner? What has been your experience? I just smoked a BBF from 1999. I stopped smoking this box 2-3 years ago because they were fireproof. The last 2 smoked excellent.
  6. » » Tried my 1st one from the sampler from Rob. It was the mid size one ?? I » » know that Cubas "Maduro" Wrapper is not like Dominicans but I compared » it » » to a box of Siglo 1s I have and the 1s have a darker wrapper. » » » » Flavor wasa outstanding. I would say it tastes very, very similar to » the » » Siglo 1s I have, almost exact. » » » » I will be waiting (most likely a long time) till the hype is over and » » price hopefully comes down. I just cant get myself to pay $400 or more » » for a RObusto size cigar. » » » » But if you have the cash, you wont be disapointed. » » » » So Rob, any insights of the future if their will be price drop? » » Hal, » » I'll take that as a strong recommendation. Thanks for the comments. » » Wilkey I smoked one of the little guys and was impressed. It was cocoa like and rather smooth with a medium finish. It did get a wee bit spongy toward the end and lost some of it's flavor but for a youngin, I was mightily impressed. It smoked like a 3-4 year old cigar. These things also have an intense prelight aroma. Very nice. I'd say the sampler for what it was, was worth the coin.
  7. I understand Rob smoking one or 2 to get an impression. That being said, I don't understand why anyone would be buying these for immediate consumption and enjoyment. Maybe last year's cigars have people in the frame of mind that young cigars smoke good now. I didn't smoke one 06 cigar except the Reyes that impressed. Admittedly I've only smoked maybe six different 06's. I will still purchase 2-3 more boxes in hope that they develop accordingly.
  8. » Smoking a Monte 4 currently. Perfect Monte 4. However I think we all know » what you have experienced. » » I don't tolerate crap cigars. I will toss a poor cigar quickly at or » before the first third mark and reach for a favourite (unless I am » reviewing). » » One cigar that is creamy and full of coffee notes that has NEVER let me » down....never, ever, ever is the Trinidad Reyes. They are never far away. I've written about this on other boards. Life is too short to smoke even a mediocre cigar. I smoke for flavor and enjoyment. If the cigar has any hints of harshness or flatness I pitch it. I don't care what it is, it gets tossed. I also will always reach for a Trini Reyes in a pinch. It's been my go to smoke since release. If I was limited to one regular production readily available cigar to smoke forever, it would be the Reyes.
  9. » » Anyone else getting this trying to access the czar? » » It's diggety down homie. :-P » » Lisa indicated that they are working on a new Czar website that should be » up soon (this/next week). » » I sent Lisa an email about it. I'm sure it'll be back up soon. ;-) » » Ether Weird, Homie is what 90% of people I know call me. I'm starting to think some don't even know my real name.
  10. Anyone else getting this trying to access the czar?
  11. I think about this often. This whole "You're not a BOTL if you think like that" is crap. I am as much a cigar lover as I am a capitalist. Ten or twenty years down the road a box of cigars may be worth much more to someone else than it is to myself. On the contrary people get on people who sell cigars over MSRP. I see no problem with this either. Some boxes of cigars are worth more than MSRP to me. They'll take the MSRP price not figure taxes or age into the equation and say "If you're paying any thing more than $7.75 per cigar you're getting gouged". This attitude bothers to me to no end. In my opinion, with many cigars, it's a sellers market. I am a BUYER not a seller and I have no problem with this. All the whining about it drives me crazy. If you don't want to buy....STFU. I think buying cigars for the future can be tricky. Past experience shows that some cigars down the road turn into gems that weren't necessarily supposed to. There is always name recognition and many people willing to pay a premium for vintage cigars aren't necessarily going to smoke them. Then there's the cigars that get discontinued. Also brands going out of business. If you can watch the steady decline of certain brands buying them up for the future seems like a relatively smart investment. Whether you decide to smoke them or not I can't see it as a loss.
  12. » » » where's the health warning sticker? » » » ;-) » » » » » » » » » » » » first time that sticker ever really bothered me was on these new » SCdlH » » » boxes... » » » » Which ones? I got the Officios sans stickers...Happy about that as » well. » » Smithy must have taken the sticker off with the hairdryer before he left. » It takes less than a minute on these varnished boxes. Solid

I was wishing it was on the cardboard » outer box along with the seal, instead... » » :crying: Was the box from February of 06?
