I checked my humidor tonight and and finally content with a nice even 65% percent thanks to a pound of Heartfelt beads.

However, now that I have conquered one foe, I realized I have a new one. The temperature in my humidor was 19.7* Celcuis. I realize that the Habanos recommendation is 16 - 18 degrees, however my humidor is not climate controlled so there isn't much I can do to fix the problem.

My question is, what effect would that temperature have on my cigars? I have noticed the last few I have smoked seem to have tighter draw but that doesn't necessarily those two things are related. My humidor is 16" wide x 12" deep x 24" tall with approximately 300 cigars right now.

Thanks,

I had a similar problem but more extreme. In the early days when I would only have 20 sticks at one time in my humi, the temp was reaching 24-26+ degC during the day (sydney weather). once I started collecting/aging I had to do something about the temp control. I wine cooler was the best solution for me, now I have no worries. I don't think 19.7degC is that bad but wouldn't want to push it any hotter than that.

If your having draw problems give dry boxing a go if you can, depends on your climate. for me that wasnt always possible so I made a dry box from Polyurethane Foam and a thermoelectric (peltier) cooling device that Im able to control the climate inside (similar to a wine cooler) I also add a bit of damp rid if needed. I dose a very good job of lowering the RH inside the box.

The main issue with higher temps is the risk of tobacco beetles hatching. Supposedly, Havanas are frozen to destroy the eggs prior to

distribution. Many members freeze their cigars upon receipt. I think your temp should be fine.
