Mr.T Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hi guys, My father is in England right now (London, Windsor area). I would love him to pick up some singles at a local B&M, but prices seem to be going higher and higher. I'd love to get a box of something, but price wise I'm not sure that is an option. Does anyone know what the Duty Free cigar situation is like at Heathrow? Anyone have any experience (good and bad) with quality and selection? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
aavkk Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I was there over new years and spent exactly 4 minutes inside a very nice looking shop that was not a LCDH. I knew I was short on time so I walked in and immediately asked the very nice gentleman working there what he had from 96 and 97. He had some interesting stock at not so interesting prices however for some original release VR's or 12 year old RA's or Lanceros it would have been worth it. I wish I had another 20 or 30 minutes to comb through everything. I'm sure I missed a few treasures. I cant remember the name of it, sorry.

Heathrow Duty Free prices are a little lower than the high street in the UK. The selection varies. They carry the majors and a few LE/RE items but one never knows exactly what. The quality is good, typical EMS. If you want specific smokes, you should probably buy them outside the airport but if you are flexible or willing to take a chance, then the Airport might get you a slightly lower price.
Guest rob Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I've bought from there... decent stuff and typically priced. I asked the fella working there who owned the store - he said he was employed by Heathrow.
