Punch Joe Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Got me thinking further, what are the bands for?Probably for one thing..........identification. Identify the brand, with the second band identifying the cigar, and in the case of the latest thing in multiple bands (the 10th Festival replica box) the release. All this can be achieved with a single band. What next, bar-codes on the bands. Don´t push the envelope that far. When discussing the applying of second bands to Epis and Mags, there was a big controversy. Some voted for the most idiotic idea came from one of the marketing dogs we had here last year. Others, realizing the stupidity of having more hands when banding (not to mention the extra cost on printing second bands for anything but braggin´) and the wrong idea on having too much white on the band (which i dislike in any cigar) except old cuban davidoffs, were forced to accept because we were in no majority. the Board Comittee approved this and then you have second banded Habanos in regular production which i don´t like at all.
Jimmy2 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I agree it cost more which will cost the consumer down the line. But really 1 band 2 bands its really all about the cigar tasting great so for me there is no problem dont care how many bands.I just want a good tasty cigar i can enjoy hell the bands come off easy if you know how to take them off.

I was joking with this were forced to accept because we were in no majority. the Board Comittee approved this and then you have second banded Habanos in regular production which i don´t like at all. Committee's try to design a horse but usually end up with a camel.
BolivarSmoker Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I like the standard single band on general production and the second band on special releases. Although some of my most coveted sticks are Connie 1s back when they were unbanded.
ChanceSchmerr Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I voted 1 and 2, like many others. I think the pic of the Habanos 10-pack is hilarious - 3 bands on the Mag 50, EE and Short Churchill....haha
BonVivant Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 As long as it tastes great i dont care how many bands are on the cigar. The same here.
ucla695 Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 The less, the better so I voted for a single standard band. I'm just waiting for them to be released with three bands. Since we're voicing opinions, one option was left out. I still have quite a few cabs with no bands whatsoever. And they look as beautiful as a tanned woman without the bikini. I can remember what a letdown it was when I opened my first cab of Mag 46's with bands. My last cab of JL No. 2's had bands for the first time, and I felt the same sort of disappointment. Kind of like when Coca-Cola wasn't produced in glass bottles. I have a suspicion that we may eventually see some special releases "En Desnudo". I hope so.
audio1der Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Wow- I can;t beleive I'm in a minority who dislike removing 2 bands. I find it a PITA and if they could amalgamate them into 1 (eithe reg.or special) I would be very happy. 2 bands doesn't make me feel any better about how much some boxes cost, and I could care less what anyone who sees me smoking thinks about what I'm smoking.
