President Obama is preparing to offer an olive branch to Cuba in a bid to improve America's tarnished reputation in Latin America.

In advance of next month's Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago, the White House is moving to ease some travel and trade restrictions as a first step toward better ties with Cuba, the London Observer reports.

This has raised hopes that a 40-year-old American economic embargo on the island will be lifted.

The provisions are contained in a $410 billion spending bill due to be voted on this week.

Puro's just to let you know it was posted below from another member.It seems to be its tended more for Cuban Americans and not all Americans which is not fare.But i hope Castro does smoething good in return but seems to be Obama is just taking away what Bush put in place during his term.Obama really is not doing anything new just alot of smoke now if all Americans benefited form this deal than it would be truly a big Change and a positive move forward.
