DocRKS Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Owing to the kindness of a fellow Cigar lover as well as a fellow Bro. Mason, I was able to taste and enjoy and marvel at this beautiful Scotch Whisky as he gifted me a bottle last Wednesday. This pale amber colored whisky was put through a Port Wine secondary cask finish and the pairing effect this had on this whisky is one of the most harmonious blendings of taste I've enjoyed in quite a while....Port wine, sweet Malt, dark fruit and a background smokey flavor are there in the nose and in the very long finish...which again ranges from a sweet start to that smokey and drier end. Thanks Bro. Michael ---- this whisky is a HOME RUN!!!!!!
Guest RobertU Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 You are a lucky man! That sounds like a great bottle. I like regular Cragganmore, but always felt it could use a little more oomph from darker notes, for my tastes, at least. Sounds like this treatment gets it there. I just picked up a curiosity myself today - Wasmund's single malt from Virginia. Apparently, he makes the whisky from barley that he malts on a floor with hardwood chips. I'm wondering where that puts it - more like scotch or bourbon? Almost time to open it! Are there not many whisky drinkers here?
