I guess the timing of this post might lead some people to believe that I lit a Molinos just now to get into the drawing. Not true at all. I actually smoked it Sunday night and did not have the time yet to do the proper write up...and as far as Rob fabulous prize draws are concerned, I'm saving my luck for the Hamlet loot, too. ;-)

I apologize for the bad pictures, the light conditions were a bit tricky and I'm not the most talented photographer. The Molinos had not much of a prelight smell, the draw was Cuban style tight but did not constitute a problem, the burn perfect. The cigar was paired with a standard Glenlivet 10 year old. But I only sipped very cautiosly, because the cigar began with kind of fragile flavour, super smooth, quality tobacco, but lacking a real statement. It took a few centimetres, before the famous Sancho Panza salt showed up. Altough I have smoked some Sancho Panza cigars before that had this salty touch (and a few that somehow lacked it), it fascinated me, because it is kind of unique to the marque. Here it was not too dominating, but distinct in the background and reminded me a bit of a wind that lets you smell the sea while you are a few miles inland (my attempt at poetic cigar drivel). That being said, I found this smoke to be more interesting than thoroughly enjoyable going into the second third. Here some nice toast/brioche/croissant flavours developed. They complemented the cigar very well and I enjoyed this part of the cigar the most, but were unfortunately not consistently present. The last third brought a change into more of a woody flavour profile, which wasn't that bad, but not the strenght of the cigar. Also it changed from a pretty mild to a medium bodied smoke at the end. Overall, I would say it was an interesting ride and I would recommend it as a change of pace cigar and as a morning smoke, but maybe at two and a half years of age I haven't yet seen the best of it.

I've never tried these... but your review has me intrigued enough to give them a go one day.
