I like the RyJ Belvederes as a everyday cigar that I dont smoke everyday if you know what I mean. It is fairly cheap and contrary to what Rob writes in his shop description of the vitola, in recent vintages neither machine made nor ugly as sin,

Tis one here started with a prominent cedar flavour, a hint of sweetness in the background. It had a little bit of flavour delevopment going on during the course of smoking, at its best moments the sweetness came to shine and it reminded me overall of a madeira cake, but mostly there was clear tobacco and a woody, cedary aroma. What may surprise is that strengthwise you could call this definitively a medium bodied cigar, quite unlike the similiar sized Mille Fleurs or the Cedro No.3. I'm half way into this box and there were never any draw or serios burn problems, so I'm could say all in all if you are looking for well priced, reliable and not too mild cigar you might want to try these.

As a sidenote, to me this cigar is further proof of the neglect towards the Romeo y Julieta marca by Habanos. There is no real brand identity as I have trouble sorting this flavour profile into the same line of the Mille Fleur, Exh.4 or 3, Short Churchill or Cazadores and the recent reviews here seem to confirm this.

Thanks for the great review Kirill

In 2009 I really want to focus on some of these lesser known offerings through a series of blind reviews with Ken and Smithy. I would like to discover some gems if possible. I also need to update the descritions of the older reviews :cigar:
