SamuraiJack Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs 2008 Very oily wrapper with dark but very slight veining. Reddish brown color with very slight waxy sheen. One or two stems felt under the wrapper, but fairly evenly bunched otherwise. Very open draw after the clip. First draws: easy light, but its obvious that this cigar is still young. Decent amounts of smoke but flavor is lacking, a bit flat, watery. Short clean aftertaste. Fresh grass/hay on the nose. 1/4: Very clean and mild. Green tasting but pleasant enough. No RyJ earthiness or floral flavors. Just slight tobacco and fresh hay. Trailing a bit but correcting itself. 1/2: Trailing worse towards the half way point, keeps wanting to go out. Sharp, bitter flavor lingering on the palate. Again, just a weak tobacco flavor with nothing of interest coming through. Nothing sour or tasting of ammonia though. Aroma reminiscent of cigarettes, yikes. So I'm puttin her down. Dissappointed? Nah, I did not expect much from a young stick. I just wanted to see where these were at right off the bat. I think the recommended sleep time on these is generally 2-3 years at the least. Wish I could say I saw potential, but at most I see this maturing into a smooth mild smoke with nothing of interest. It actually reminded me a lot of a batch of bland RyJ Puritos I have. Similar tobacco?
