kirill Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I'm not much of a Robusto smoker, but I like to have a lot of options when I look into my humidor, so I got a couple of RASS from Rob as part of a singles order earlier this year. It had a nice cold smell of coco. The draw was perfect, burn corrected itself throughout the smoke. To my surprise, the initial draws revealed a distinct sweetness, not sugary sweet, rather reminding of a christmas spice cake. I really enjoyed that with the coffee. It soon developed more body and got me hoping that I wouldn't leave me with a serious nicotine buzz, smoking it well before 11 am. Thankfully, it remained a well balanced medium strength cigar with lots of flavour. More of that spice cake aroma, nutmeg really present, cloves shining through from time to time . Nut aromas as well, although less than in the Gigantes I had three days ago. Leather creeping in, too and very much discernible when exhaling through the nose. In the second half it became a real creamy smoke, with a nice bitterness that evolved and naturally became stronger towards the end. What it definitely never had was "stewed fruit" or for that matter any flavour that I would associate the adjective "fruity" with. Nevertheless it was an excellent cigar, that perhaps would benefit from another two years to integrate all the different flavours better. To end my personal Ramon Allones testing series, I'll therefore have a go with an aged RA tomorrow.
