As promised here is my second shot at the Boli PC review. This time I was much more successful!:-D

Bolivar PC SVF 12-2005

Joining the Boli is a Rodney Strong Pinot Noir 2006 and for entertainment, American Idol.

This stick is gorgeous, light to medium brown wrapper, a bit of plume is evident, and the feel is firm but not too firm. I am confident this will not be a repeat of my Saturday Boli, which was a plugged tosser.

Prelight draw. The spice/heat on my lips is so strong there is a burning sensation, which while almost unpleasant at first calms down rapidly. The cold draw is cayenne pepper and tobacco with a citrusy aftertaste. This is going to be a good one!

The first third is light spicy pepper, leather, dark chocolate and a hint of cherries. The spice and cherry finish is quite pleasant. The flavors at the start are quite raucous in their intensity, but as I progress to the end of the third the flavors calm down quite a bit.

Entering the second 3rd tobacco and spice dominate. The finish is leather and wood, that becomes rich and chocolaty towards the end of the third. The ash is loose and making a mess of things.

Coming into the last 3rd the spice is going away. Actually for a bit of this last 3rd the flavors become muted, maybe it is the Pinot, as I do now notice the Boli is bringing out the fruitiness of the otherwise dry Rodney Strong. At the last 2 inches, the predominant flavor is again leather, with a hint of chocolate and some black cherry undertones returning.

In all a very enjoyable smoke, more than made up for the tosser!

Nice review - that's more like what the BPC should be!

It surely can be a bit frustrating when you're not sure what the next cigar from a box will bring.
