Perhaps Lisa, as Rasputina, planted that box as revenge for your disdain. :lookaround:

Seriously tough, I appreciate the honest review. It's been awhile since I've smoked one and your review is prompting to do so.

Hey Prez.....are you sure you didnt have FAKES??? :-D :-D

The Siglo 2 is #1 on my list of PCs' . Maybe 1 of 4 of the Cohiba line up I like. Out of 6 cabs so far, I have only had 1 bad , tasteless one. Maybe you are getting to use to the good life of smokeing Cohiba Maduro 5s' regularly

Cohiba Siglo II PLM JUN 06

Caught up with Smithy for breakfast this morning. He is sporting his new “Count of Montecristo” facial hair and will be popping into Czar house this afternoon for a wine and to help me out on a cigar review.

Back to the office and found a beaming Lisa making goo goo eyes at the Airconditioning mechanic doing some work. What is it with women when in full “Flirt Mode” ….giggling, laughing, batting of eyelids and full of diddties and cute one liners. I also note IQ drops about 30% “Wow…airconditioning can be really cold…can’t it? This is the same woman who from memory can recite foreign exchange movements to the day for the past five years? ;-)

Nauseated…. I went into the humidor and selected a Siglo II to accompany my morning coffee and e-mail on the upstairs deck.

Cohiba Siglo II has always been a favourite PC which appears to come in two forms: “Rich and lush” or “Grassy, mild and disappointing”. Either a PC version of the Siglo 1 or its anemic cousin. For most of 2007 I have been fortunate enough to have the former.

This CSII looked the goods. Well rolled, Classic Cohiba wrapper with a sweet tobacco aroma at cold. Cerrated the cap to find a serviceable draw and sweet cream and dry grass on the lips and tongue. With all clear for take off I fired up the foot and encountered my first signs of turbulence.

How do I describe this? You always fire up a cigar you know well with a certain level of expectation and the opening of a cigar sets the framework as to whether those expectations will be met. In the case of the CSII the opening flavours were hollow and washed out. Mamby pamby whisps of cream and grass with a light tobacco. I knew exactly there and then that this cigar was going to be a trial of patience. It was not going to be a rich and lush Siglo II but rather the “Grassy, mild and disappointing” version. I HATE THAT EFFING VERSION!

Welcome to "Cohiba Light"

What frustrates me even more is that I have had over recent months excellent “Rich and Lush” versions of PLM JUN 06 Siglo II boxes. Taking control again of my emotions I decided to give the Siglo II a little longer to come good. Light to Medium bodied it squeezed out the whispiest of flavours in a manner which at first disappointed and then infuriated. “How could you be related to the Siglo I I had earlier in the week!”

I pitched it at the half way mark as I could stand it no longer. The cigar was a disgrace and an embarrassment. It had no soul, no flavour, no aroma and no essence. It had about as much in common with the Cohiba Siglo II that I love ……as I have in common with the Bactrian Camel. I could age that cigar for 20 years and it would still be a weak and insipid blight on humanity.

70/100 (it drew)
