Cam Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 My long absence is finally over (for me) I love this forum!! it is explainable, I've been quite sick.. but all is well now, just thought I'd share the goings on over here. This weekend just passed, father and me went to the 29th annual Mustang convention here in New Zealand, 140 cars attended, which is amazing for our small country (I realise it's nothing in comparison to similar meetings in the U.S) I have a 2005 GT with some aftermarket performance parts and dad has a 69 convertible and a 69 fastback, photos coming shortly. Anyway I met a very interesting man named Scott Drake, who co owns Shelby performance parts in Las Vegas and Scott Drake international, I was able to arrange a few tours for some of the forum members here which you might be able to incorporate into your Cuban and eastern us escapades, all you mustang owners and Shelby, 64-2007 give me an email and I'll set you up with some tours, cheaper parts or just send me photos ill be keen to have a gaze! Kechke Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Hello 007, I am a Mustang nut as well. I live in Canada and own a much moded 68 convertable and my wife has a slightly moded 2005 v-6 convertable. I go to a lot of the MCA shows in the USA. I had a friend from Canada who moved to NZ quite a few years ago, he would return every so often to work here for a year and return to NZ with a Mustang, it seems to a popular vehicle there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/kec...dMCAShow021.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/kechke/W-Scoop001.jpg
Cam Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 nice one welcome to the mad house! and your cars sound amazing exactly what mods have you made to both of them? are they concourse cars? I've just bought a 67 shelby 350! with update with photos Cam -
Kechke Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 The 67 Shelby is one of my favorite cars, I'd love to see some pics of yours, where did you get it from? When I first got the 68 I tried to keep it concours but since we love driving it so much I decided to bring it up more modern standards. As far as mods on my 68, wow I don't know where to start, the car was built for cruising and I put close to 8,000 miles on it this year. For starters it has a 375 HP 331 CI stroker motor ahead of a 86 AOD auto tranny that has been beefed up with parts from other stronger Ford Tranny's such as the Lightening truck, T-Bird Super Coupe as well as aftermarket clutch plates and planetary gears. Try-Y headers, and a high capacity mini starter, plus 3.25 rear gears in the third member. Four wheel disk brakes rein in the horse power at stop lights. The seats are custom upholstered in leather and are fron a 93 Mustang, there is a cloth top, Shelby ten spoke wheels with BFG- G force rubber, power windows , remote trunk release and entry. I custom made a set of sequential LED tail lights for the rear and there is a set of Halogen Tri bar head lights in the front. This winter I am adding a Classic Auto Air conditioning unit for my wifes comfort and a Shelby roll bar for looks. My wifes 2005 convertable has a CDC hood scoop , front spoiler and a light bar with wind screen. The car has been lowered one and a half inches with a set of Eibach springs and the chrome wheels are from American Racing . Getting back to your GT 350, is it restored or do you plan on working on it your self?
Shooter Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I've got to share a sad story.... Back in '81 or so a friend offered me his green '68 GT500KR, all original in great shape for $5,000. At the time I had a '69 Z-28 Camaro (worth $2500ish) and as a 22 year-old, just couldn't make it happen. Today, the '68 Shelby (with '67 not far behind!) would be my ultimate "must have" musclecar. I also am fully aware that the car I passed-up then is worth well-over $100K (or much more). Talk about kicking myself. I even let my "Z" go for way too cheap too not long after. (sigh) Oh, the things we would have done differently when looking back. Congrats on your 'stangs guys. One day...One day.
Cam Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 288000 for the KR, extremely rare, unfortunately such low priced oppurtunities NEVER come up any more, too many people are aware of what their cars are worth.. it's a bit of a resto job, has an aftermarket air cleaner and valve covers, some after market edelbrock race parts, other than that it seems to be mostly original. ill post some photos of my cars soon, those mods sound amazing!!! did you do them all yourself? do you use california mustang at all or do you have a reasonably well priced supplier in Canada? What are you calling your brokerage business.
smokum Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I have owned and still own some of the rarest andmost valuable American Chevrolet muscle on the planet . Along with the economy, muscle car prices have dropped dramatically while Ferrari has risen to new highs once again. My favorite Ferrari is the 250 Lusso...followed clost by 575 Maranello...I would love to have either...250L now is in the crazy price range. Friend of mine out in California owns the one and only factory Super Snake Shelby Mustang.

I have bought from Cal Stang as well as numerous other aftermarket sellers in the Us, my favourite is probably National Parts Depot. Yes I do all of the work myself except for auto trans, I leave that to a friend who is a transmission expert. Do you intend on bringing the GT350 back to original, and if you don't mind divulging, what currency was that Shelby price in?
Cam Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 USD, just averaging local and international trading prices, probably will call it QCC - Fine Autos, I do the watches as-well which is QCC - Fine Watches, I can't tell you what QCC means though I'd have to kill you The Enzo I sourced was little over 740k euros, which is well under market average, the FXX however was another story.
Guest Warren Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 So are you picking up the Enzo and the FXX and bringing them back to NZ. ? Do you have a web site we could go to to see the watches you have for sale ?
Cam Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 I'm developing one, if you wish to ask I work with WOS and Jess Danby here in NZ a renowned watch maker.. if there's a specific brand just give me a message, I recently sourced a 5980 and 5960, no both Ferraris are going to Switzerland, one to BAsel and the other to Geneva. - here's a tip - never reveal the identity of private clients
