I need some recommendations for an awesome cigar for a special event I've got coming up. The only requirement is that it's not too strong because I'll be smoking it later in the night, and lots of alcohol + nicotine doesn't go well for me. I prefer smaller ring gauges, but I'm open to anything really. Since I'll be buying it from my local shop, I doubt that they'll have any aged stock, so it should be something that is good fresh.

Thanks

Without any further info as to your palate, and Habanos experience the logical choice would be any Fonseca vitola. Mild but not bland and they won't hurt you. There are many other choices but I hesitate for the aforementioned reasons.

Sorry for not providing enough info...

Some of the traits I like are:

*Creamy/Rich

*Woody

*Slightly sweet or spicy

Some lines that I like are

*RyJ

*ERDM

*Montecristo

*HdM

I would vote for:

Monte Mill Robusto

Cohiba Reserva Piramide

Elegrant and complex but not too strong and won't overload you palette with spice.

After a lot of alcohol, I wouldint reccomend anything too aged or expensive. You wont pick up many of the aged flavors. I would reccomend a RyJ Churchill.

HDM Churchill, mild pretty and the perfect size for a special occasion. Not to expensive and available, a well known classic.

If smaller gauge is needed consider the Cohiba Lancero. Ultra-classy and not an everyday smoke for most.

I missed the "later in the evening part", good advice bro.

» Creamy and woody and not too spicy, I would recommend a 3-4 year old Quay

» de Orsai Imperial!!! If you could find it with more age go for it... :ok:

I agree there.... anything fromt he quay de orsai line or por laranga should suit you...

Thanks for all the suggestions. At the moment I am leaning toward either the Cohiba Lancero/ Corona Especial, HdM DC or RyJ Churchill. Does anyone have a personal favourite out of these four?

The Ryj is more toasty. The corona especial is more spicy and peppery. But the HDM DC is smooth, creamy, aromatic and complex but a lot milder than the other selections, will take closer to 2 hours to enjoy and won't knock you around too much. Depends on time. But I'd pick the HDM. I love em'. Even though they are a little mild for some of the heavier smokers on this forum.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll go with the DC. I'll be halving it with my cigar mate, so it shouldn't be too hard to finish.

Hey JMH any of the aformentioned sticks should do as I ain't seen no junk recomended. There is a potential problem with the original request. A "special cigar" may not be easily obtainable, and all depends on what you think is special. Make it different than your ussual smoke and all the best to you.
