DocRKS Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Yesterday's Washington Post (Wash. D.C.) printed an article featuring Capt. Drew Sloan, a soldier seriously wounded in Afghanistan and having faced numerous reconstructive surgeries who drove himself very hard to recover so he would be declared competent to return to serve with his men, this time in Iraq - I knew Drew from his West Point days (he is Class of '02) and he was one of the soldiers we supported during our Christmas Holiday drive here on FOH! ....... Pls take the time to read about what this man has done and continues to do..... It also shows why these support our soldier efforts are never a reflection on what you personally feel about the war --- it is always and only about supporting these men and women - our children and neighbors and family.... Here is an exerpt from the story as well as the link to the article. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/07/AR2007040701308.html ....... Capt. Drew Sloan, who was seriously injured in Afghanistan in 2004, wanted to return to combat after multiple surgeries and months of recovery. "You wake up in the hospital different than you were before. ... I was thinking if I can redeploy, I was not beaten. I was whole," he said......
CelticBasque Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Sloan's an incredible human being for walking the walk and actually achieving what he knew he needed to do. That's an incredible and inspirational article! Thanks for sharing!
