Colt45 Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Purchased as singles, I don't have codes, so I'll post here. Construction: Good overall, but somewhat on the soft side. Wrapper: Medium brown with a couple of zipper veins. On the leathery side, but with a slight sheen. Draw: Very loose, as one might expect with soft construction. But not loose enough to be considered a detriment. Burn was very straight, and the draw did provide great smoke volume. Taste: It started with a BURST of heavy cream, and the mouthwatering sweet and sour spice I associate with Cubans. It stayed this way for the first half inch or so. It then settled into a more earthy flavor overall, with nutty, woody, and floral/fruity notes intermingled throughout the duration. But always there was spice - not overpowering, but not lingering in the background either. The last inch or so was mint, musk, and spice all rolled together. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and look forward to trying the ones I have left after they've had some time. For now I give it an 89, though I expect that to go up.
TR Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 yum yum and yum....some folks do not enjoy these and dub them as harsh...to these people I say fooey......BBF's are excellent. I just wish I had a few more boxes aging.....

thschrminm Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 These belicosos are the best of the size in all the brands of Habanos... Every now and then a Sancho Panza peaks my interest but the salty earthiness of the Sancho doesn't compare to the slightly sweet and spice of the Bolivars!!!
1f1fan Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Great cigar. I need to stock up on these....
Curmudgeon Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Every once in a while, I dip into a box of '01s I've had for a couple years. These are beautiful looking cigars and are as strong as any Havana I've ever had, but they're just starting to "open up", in terms of flavor. I almost can't believe I'm saying this, but I think they'll be great in another couple years.
Mikey Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 My new box (MAR 05) look fantastic...haven't tried them yet,though:-|
Elric Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I've found them to be too hit and miss as compared to other campana/piramides.
Colt45 Posted December 13, 2005 Author Posted December 13, 2005 I had my second one of these while on vacation last week. The draw was a bit tight from being on the damp side (not plugged), and the flavor was slightly muted because of this as well. But what a great cigar - I REALLY like these! One of the very few benefits of it being really cold here now, is that I won't be able to touch them for a while.
raney Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 » I think they can be a little harsh when young, but they seem to » age very well. I've only smoked three or four of these, all under 18 months old. (I found them harsh and uninspiring) . They just too damn hard to find with more than a few months of age, and I'm still building some reserves beore I start buying boxes for three years from now. Ergo - they stay pretty far down on my list. GOD I hate to wait.
