Thanks, I recall that posting but I understood it to mean that certain vitolas within several brands were being discontinued. As I read today's Cigar Insider by CA, it said their next issue would discuss Cuba's planned elimination of some brands.

There is constant re-evaluation of the performance of some brands. Sancho Panza, Rafael Gonzalez, Vegueros, Troya are at the top of the list. The question is revitalisation v extinction and making way for new brands. I woudn't miss Vegueros or Troya or Guantanamera. It would be a shame to lose SP or RG however the range is getting slimmer and slimmer. Others under likely re-assessment are ERDM and LGC.

They may be happy with these lines producing 2-3 vitola's and pushing them forward as regional release likelies. I can't however see a distribitor taking a 60,000 Regional Release risk currently with any of these brands.

On 7.3.07, El Pres reported (on another thread) that the Sancho Panza & Rafael Gonzalez are getting new packaging & rebranding......so at least these two are safe.
