asavin Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I would love to get in a good smoke in the afternoon, but I usually don't have an hour or more. What are some good 20-30 minute smokes? I'm leaning towards the Siglo I for my first order with Rob. Please give me your opinions.
Colt45 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I have recently tried a number of perlas, minutos, and a reyes. (they are more like 30-45 minute smokes). Here is how I would place them: 1) Bolivar Coronas Junior 2) Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas 3) Trinidad Reyes 4) Cohiba Siglo1 5) Montecristo No.5 Please bear in mind that these were all from 2006, and are very early in their development. Try some of each!
VigorishSLC Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I like Colt45's lineup, though I would mix the order up a bit! :-P I'd also have to say Party Shorts are a strong contender for the top of my list.
Van55 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Unlike others, I can't finish a Perla or Minuto in under 30 minutes without feeling rushed and thinking the cigar is burning hot. For those times when I gotta have a quick fix of Cuban flavor, I light up a Partagas Chico. Bolivar Chicos are also great, if you are lucky enough to find them. 1
El Presidente Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 My 20 minute smokes: Hoyo Du Monterrey Le Hoyo Du Maire. Por Larranaga Panetela (more 35 minutes) Romeo y Julieta tres petite julietas The Du Maire is the queen of this segment. 1
smokum Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I love this review of the Du Maire "Can suffer FROM a tight draw which appears to affect the Le Hoyo range more than most. The 1999 batch could have easily been used by African Pygmies in their blowguns to bring down fully grown elephants :-) However, when rolled correctly, they are an exquisite little panetela loaded with sweet spice. I enjoy one with a Guinness at the local. "

I wholeheartedly agree van... they tend to last me at least 45 minutes and more often than not and most of the time about an hour. When I think of a 20-30 minute smoke Im thinking partagas chico or something of the like
sandholm Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Hi I would recommend that you test the following cigars Cuban Montecristo No 5 Hoyo de Monterrey du Maire Romeo y Julieta AT No 3 Partagas Coronas Junior I also list some non-cubans that might be worth testing. Zino Platinum XS (I love this one, a perfect mix of cigar/cigarillo) Davidoff Entreacto (entreacto is an Spanish music/theater term that means, between acts, theater intermission) Davidoff Grand Cru No. 5 Macanudo Cafe Ascot Best regards, Anders
asavin Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 » The Du Maire is the queen of this segment. Thank you everyone for your insight. I'll take your word Mr. Prez. and give these little guys a try (especially after the great review).
tmos Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Just get the chico's. You won't have a religious experience but you'll have some nice cuban twang after lunch.
Mel Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 While the Du Maire is a nice very small smoke the ring gauge is to small for me, most of the time. Go for the Party Short or Sig I and spend a little more time.
