JMH Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I bought this cigar as one of several singles, so I can't remember exactly, but I think it was from early '06. It had a very boxpressed construction (an almost rectangular cigar), a nice deep brown wrapper, minimal veins, and no ugly marks. There were a few problems with the burn, but smoking outside, what can you expect. I had tried one of these several months ago and was met by a very bitter and harsh flavour, so I wasn't expecting much from this, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Right off the bat were flavours of sweet milky coffee with lashings of rich milk chocolate thrown in. There were occasional hints of a sweet spiciness, but the coffee/chocolate was by far the dominant profile of the cigar the whole way through. I would say it was medium in body. Overall it was a great cigar, 89/100.
Colt45 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 To date, this has been the one Bolivar I've tried that I just can't sink my teeth into. The samples I've had have been rather lackluster and somewhat disjointed. Thanks for your contribution.

After my experience with the first one, I was about to give the others away to friends, but luckily for me I thought I'd try another today while I had some time to kill.

Yes, Andrew, they were not bad cigars, but when I compare them to others in the Bolivar lineup, these would not be my first choice. But I do look forward to giving another one a go in the near future.
Claudius Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 The BRC is my favorite robusto. Definitely spicy, very aromatic, black tea, full bodied. Very well-priced, too. The thing is, most boxes dont seem that beautiful and well-smelling (I smelled 8 boxes last weekend and only bought one, without being impressed). But if you get a nice box, it's awesome. I think this is a cigar I only want to buy when I see it, too irregular.
El Presidente Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Andrew....thankyou for the review ;-) It has been a hit and miss Robusto in 2006. I have had exquisite and I have had ordinary.....and I can't tell the difference until I put it in my mouth. You can choose an oily, aromatic perfect BRC and think it is going to be to die for....only to be disappointed. Then the next is magnificent. Go figure
