Colt45 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Until today, this is a cigar I've never had any luck with. I bought a number of singles a year or so ago (I imagine they're '05 - '04), and have sampled one every now and then. The first two were like smoking air - absolutely nothing. The next one started to show a little bit more, but still not much to speak of. So I was not expecting much when I grabbed one from the humidor today. Upon ignition I was met with a full on, no holds barred BLAST of white pepper - I was momentarily stunned - finally, something! Thought the spice subsided slightly, it was still a major component, along with earthy, straightforward tobacco. In the end, this was a nice, though still unbalanced cigar, with plenty left to gain. To be honest, after the first two samples, I really didn't think these had the backbone to gain anything with time, but today's sample really showed a quantum leap in the maturation process.
ccsmoker Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I love them just wait it will only get better...
ThreeD Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 » I love them just wait it will only get better... I've had the same experience as Colt45. I was expecting something similar to the P2, which I love, and was let down. I guess I'll leave them in the box for a good sleep and hope they turn out like you said.

I find that these are a bit similar to Monte 2's ... sometime they are absolutely nothing to get excited over, and other times they leave you with your drawers stuck to your sack. I don't think they are similar in terms of aging, as the PSD4's can be absolutely fantastic young, but mostly similar in terms of potential greatness and potential letdown.
