Jimmy2 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 HAVANA (Reuters) - Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro said on Tuesday that he was not well enough to attend the opening of several days of events celebrating his 80th birthday. "I'm not in medical condition to be there," Castro said in a statement read by a presenter to thousands of supporters from dozens of countries at the start of a gala in Havana's Karl Marx theater that was to mark the opening of the celebrations. His birthday was August 13 but he postponed celebrations after undergoing emergency surgery that forced him to hand over power temporarily to his brother Raul in late July.
genevapics Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I think Fidel has passed. At the very least he is on his death bed. Even if he could not have attended any ceremony's, you think they would at least publish some current photo's of El Presidente.

Would we the U.S. post pictures of our president if he was deathly ill? I think not.
Mel Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Knowing the Cuban government they would hire a taxidermist to keep him aroung for a while.;-)
DrAlejandro Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I'll celebrate when I see his coffin... until then hes alive and dangerous in my opinion
