» who said poms were tossers!

If there are English people who think leaving the band on a cigar is garish behaviour then it is no wonder we have a reputation.

It is very hard to find a public place where I live (Grimsby - England) where people wouldn't look on disaprovingly if you sparked up a cigar that is much bigger than a cigarette. I smoked a Lunch Club cigar in a pub near my house and people were looking at me as if I was sodomising a kitten.

Now I just tend to smoke them at home. Of course when the smoking in public ban comes into effect next year smoking at home will be the only place to smoke.

I always take the band off. Don't want people to know what I'm smoking or think I'm showing off. I only do it if it comes of easily though, otherwise I wait until about 1/2 way mark.

exactly. and besides, if you feel embarrassed or offended by the quality of my cigar, GROW A PAIR. i am certainly not going to risk damaging my cigar because i don't want to hurt you wittle feewings.

Leaving the band on in the UK is considered garish behaviour as it may interpreted as showing off.. HA !!! I got your garish behavior right here !!

When I'm in the U.K. and find myself about to enjoy an especially expensive Habana cigar - I not only leave the band on - but I attach a little label hanging from a little string with the price paid emblazoned in NEON COLOUR marker !!! Then I take an especially long puff and exhale LOUDLY and forcefully proclaiming, "This is some GOOD SHI*"

It's a great ice-breaker and a sure fire way to meet new people.;-)

Of course, the price I paid is usually considered very cheap when you take into account what the English cigar merchants are charging for their cigars!

» ..I lost my wedding band while in the surf 5 years ago. I still haven't

» found one I like to replace it :lookaround: Band on until it loosens up a bit , then removed before it burns . I lost my wedding band in the surf as well(10 years ago), wave drew me back , picked me up , flipped me over and drilled me into the sand , knocked the wind out of me , I felt my ring get pulled off my finger by the edge of my board . Worst wipe out I've ever had to this day . Crawled out of the ocean gasping for air , literally , with the little woman waiting for me , after she realizes that I'm alright she asks "Where's your wedding band?" . All I could do was point out to the surf . Just one of those instances when mother nature lets you know who is really in control . It was not the band she placed on my finger on our day , was a band I wore to the beach so the nice one doesn't get dinged up .

Bottom line for me is, I got my cigars and the buddy has his.. If he wants to take the wrapper off what's that to me. You do not have to like my cigars or the way I smoke them. I take the band off before it catches fire and ruins the smoke. Oh the other reason is I pitch mine out the back door in the yard and they are not as much as an eye sore with the band off.
