Colt45 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 » The sole emphasis is releasing new cigars that sell. What kind of numbers do they consider a success - or at least what is the minimum thay consider acceptable? (sorry, each answer is liable to lead to a million more questions)

They are looking for successfull global line extensions with their general production releases. In the P2's/Edmundo's and VI's we are talking in the millions. The info I have is 2005 and not current. The minimum acceptable number for a regional release would be 30,000 sticks. I do not have the number for a commercial line extension but I would guess you would need to push 500,000 sticks. That is the rub, you could launch a 1000,000 stick release with say a Monte Robusto or a 500,000 stick release with a Punch Laguito No 1 (at best). Commercially where would you expend your effort? As we know however it is not all about sales. It is also about brand positioning and customers perception and satisfaction with that brand (Habanos)
