I don't pay too close attention to my timing, but I do notice that I ussually one of the last guys to finish a cigar. I too believe in slower steady draws produce better more flavor; and as you said Rob it is particularly important in thinner RGs.

I have some 01 Lanceros, and brought a few to the pub to give to 2 mates who are newer smokers. Both had burn problems and complained about flavor was "no big deal." Mine on the other hand was excellent -- as were the others from the same box.

With one mate about half way through his cigar I tried to explain you can't "Hoover" the thing. He gave up and I handed him a robusto, no problem there.

Looking back I probably should have told him "you have to manage the burning temperture. Not too hot, not too low. You want a steady, even and, controlled airflow, to just keep it burning." Any advice on how to best explained it?

» I am a firm believer that the faster the burn the lower the flavour

» complexity of a cigar.

» For reference..how long does it take you to smoke a well rolled:

I try to make it last for the same reason. Sometimes I'm better than others :)

For those sticks I'd say

PC= 30 mins

Robo 40 mins

Torp= 50mins

Lancero = about an hour

Petit Corona............ 45 - 60 minutes

Robusto.................. I haven't had one in over 14 years. I have no clue!

Pirimide/Torpedo..... 90+ minutes

Lancero.................. 100 - 120 minutes. I sip these. I don't remember who said to smoke this vitola like this, but I tried it and I liked the results.
