Ruggerpgh99 Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM This was more of a don't make me choose scenario, more than most that we have had. Both provide something great, but different. slight nod to Scorcese, I have watched Goodfellas more times than I can remember. 2
gormag38 Posted yesterday at 01:35 PM Posted yesterday at 01:35 PM Scorsese for me. But was certainly a 'DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE'. Spielberg is absolutely amazing and when he does a blockbuster type movie he's in a league by himself. Schindlers List, Saving Private Ryan, ET, Close Encounters, Jaws, Indiana Jones...I mean I could just keep going but the catalogue is literally jaw dropping. With that being said though, I think Scorsese movies are more up my alley. Goodfellas is arguably my favorite of all time. The Departed, Flower Moon, Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island are all so different yet so good as well. 2 1

I chose Spielberg because he is so multi-faceted. Mostly, I chose him because my favorite novel is Jurassic Park and while I will always contend that the novel FAR outshines the film, that film is one of the greatest things ever put out there. E.T. is another that captures my imagination, and Hook. Nobody does whimsy like Spielberg, but he also captures gripping war and terror in films like Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List. My thoughts exactly. And I 100% agree on the novel, which I re-read every year. 1

Deeg Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago That’s a “don’t make me choose” for sure, but I went with Spielberg. The sheer volume of iconic films is what puts him over the top for me. And his two best (A.I., Empire of the Sun) barely get a mention.
