Popular Post Montezüma Posted January 4 Popular Post Posted January 4 Happy New Year FOH, wishing our community a cozy 2026. I had a trip to Munich over the holidays and wanted to share a short review of one Trinidad Reyes I had found in a cigar lounge nestled in the city centre. Munich was thoroughly enjoyable, as a first-timer I would definitely visit again. Not too crowded over the holidays and yet very festive. A nice change of pace from other big cities around the region. It is only the fourth city I have visited in Germany and certainly one of my favorite alongside Berlin, albeit contrasting between them in just about most things. Having arrived from Amsterdam, I was eager to find a cigar lounge. The only places where indoor smoking was permissible in Amsterdam were all clouded with the mist of a different leaf, a vibe paying homage to my more youthful years that I was not too nostalgic to reminisce. I wouldn't be too bothered were it not single digit Celsius outdoors, if there was an appropriate cigar lounge in Amsterdam I certainly didn't find one which was surprising. I was very pleased to find a cigar lounge in Munich. It was located at the Kempinsky Hotel. Apparently the only few or couple left in the city where there used to be many. The door-charge policy may be unwelcoming for many, I myself had expected that the door-charge to be a minimum spend but that was not the case. Given the circumstances, I didn't mind and considered perhaps that is the price of upkeep because the lounge is rather beautiful, comfortably furnished, well-ventilated and fairly stocked at competitive prices. Bearing in mind that a door-charge also meant that no customer is obliged to purchase a cigar and would be given a 24-hour access key. I had purchased an Ramon Allones Absolutos to keep, hoping for greater things, while lighting up a Trinidad Reyes alongside a well prepared cappuccino. And so the Reyes, a cigar that rarely disappoints had delivered as ever. It was less silkier than I am used to, with flavour notes that had deviated more towards cedar rather than leather. Opened up well towards the second half and I made it last as long as I could beyond 45 minutes. For those who have never come across The Reyes, it is a great Trinidad. In spite of its size, the Reyes encapsulates the profile of its marca. A serious cigar that stands on its own. Wishing a great cigar year of 2026 for all of us. 13
Arabian Posted January 4 Posted January 4 A beautiful cigar, perfect for the morning with coffee/after lunch as well. Smooth and delivers great flavors. However, Habanos killed it with their recent price increase to the point of one saying, 'meh, its not worth the price tag'. 1
chasy Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Munich is really cool. Interesting blend of cultures, architecture, cuisine. When I was last there, I recall it feeling very civilized. 2
