TanT Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Do you think that single cigars in a large tower unit get too much airflow? Would it be better to enclose them in boxes? We have quite a lot of single cigars without cello and I'd like to organize them more attractively on the shelves as well as help with their long term storage and aging. I found some boxes sold for arts and crafts of unfinished wood that I think might fit the bill. They are not cedar, but neither are they strongly scented. They should hold humidity and allow for some permeability and air circulation. Clean cigar boxes would do as well of course, but the glass topped boxes I found on Amazon are nicer looking and would allow visibility. Seems a waste to have a nice tower with interior lighting and not have a nice display of cigars on the inside too. Looks a bit messy at the moment with all the random singles bunched up. Currently arguing with the more ardent cigar smoker in the house as to whether there is such a thing as too much airflow. I think there is, plus I care about having a nicer looking tower in the living room, so craft boxes or nice wooden are my suggestion. What do you think? Any issues with craft grade unfinished wood boxes? I'm aware that any raw wood product could carry some undesirable things into a humidor, and would likely be running them through the steam sterilizer at work before use.
yuppie Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I've had this same thought and to ease my mind, I just keep them in plastic bags which are open. This hopefully keeps the wind off of them directly but still allows the humidity to permeate. Overall, I wouldn't worry about it too much. 3
