This week the Lizards pair Partagás Serie D No. 4 (TLU FEB 22) with Grgigh Hills Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020. The guys discuss the world's biggest cigar lounge coming to Pennsylvania, they answer Lizard FAQs, and they each build a perfect plate for Thanksgiving. PLUS: Helping New Smokers/Being a New Smoker, Gizmo Bought a Watch, Denver vs. Pipe Smokers & More

One of the best non-anniversary or NYE episodes out there. This was fun and the Lizard holiday episodes always deliver. I don’t know where it will stand in the catalog, but is on par with the recent H. Upmann 2 and Cuaba Distinguidos episodes that were solid from intro to outro. Here is the Mt Rushmore of non-celebratory episodes;

1. Partagas Culebras - episode 14 - this is when the podcast became what we know and love about it. The rough edges had been smoothed and felt like being the Empty Chair philosophy took hold in a real tactile way

2. HVC Seleccíon No. 1 Esenciales - episode 162 - Kuhn Spoon, Holiday Food, Bam Can’t Shop, Price is Right - the funniest episode there has ever been.

3. Cohiba BHK 54 - episode 121 - the single most educational thing I’ve heard on CC’s and an incredible bookend to the work done by Min Ron Nee. The interview with Danilo Rodriguez felt like getting an interview with Pynchon or Salinger.

4. Partagas Aliados - episode 133 - a rare episode when the Lizards discuss matters of the heart when Gizmo’s mom passed and the boys toast her life. They then show the ties that bind between the podcast, the friendship, and the import of cigars. The cigar is also a catastrophe and the boys dunk on it like Spud Webb in the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

The episodes in a different class all their own are the Bam Bam Accountability episodes (62/63), which were like Carlton Fisk’s home run in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series - only more consequential. And the Rob Ayala/Hamlet episode, which was like a sequel to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

It was so much fun hearing you guys complain about the North Korea lounge. Loved this one and I'm super jealous of those D4s! Gotta track down a good box.
