Dlowil Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Looking to upsize my humidor situation. My dad swears by his igloo cooler. Would appreciate you guys thoughts/perspectives here. I’m also open to any humidor recommendations. Thanks in advance!
Fuzz Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Have a few friends who use coolers as their humidor. No complaints from them. It all comes down to your situation and where you are storing your cigars. If you have wild temperature fluctuations, a cooler would help to limit the variance of those fluctuations. If temperature isn't too much of a problem, a cheaper solution would be an airtight storage box or a scuba box. That will help keep moisture from entering or escaping. I personally use them as temperature isn't a huge concern for me.

My only other consideration (and not sure how much of a consideration it should be) is organization w/n the cooler. Would you also recommend lining with cedar? 1
Lucas Buck Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I have stored in coolers with and without cedar lining. Haven’t seen any difference other than the aesthetically pleasing look compared to dull boring plastic and the wonderful aroma of Spanish cedar. For these reasons I would go with the cedar. Please consider I am a Spanish cedar whore. I outfit my travel humidors with it, often light with cedar spills and store the vast majority of my stash in cedar boxes and humidors. There is just something so pleasing about it. One of my favorite aromas and the perfect companion to premium hand rolled cigars. 1 1
Lamboinee Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I've got a couple coolers and a couple Rubbermaid tubs. They work great. I agree with everything that has been posted from others as well on this thread. I am a proponent of using Spanish cedar or other humidor woods in a cooler as well. 1

I just store my boxes in large 100L tubs. I have singles and leftover cigars stored in another 20L tub with a few cedar sheets, but only so I can kind keep the boveda packs from touching the cigars. 1
