Initial draws reveal notes of cocoa, wood, citrus pith, with intermittent hints of leather and a light spicy sensation on the palate reminiscent of white pepper. The flavor and body are light-medium, finishing with a short, slightly sweet cocoa and woodsy note and a slightly dry smoke texture. Smoke output is medium.

2/3: Cocoa, cloves, star anise, and a touch of leather and raisin now take center stage, continuing with a white-pepper-like sensation on the palate. The flavor intensifies to medium with a medium body, offering a long, sweet, and spicy finish. The slightly dry smoke texture continues, and smoke output is full at this stage.

3/3: Complexity tapers off in this last third, with cloves and star anise dominating, and a fairly spicy sensation on the palate reminiscent of black pepper. The flavor and body rise to full, with a long finish blending mainly savory notes and a fairly spicy palate. The slightly dry smoke texture remains, and smoke output is full until the end.

Final Thoughts: great complexity and balance of flavors up until the last third, where complexity drops off and becomes unbalanced.

I have to say I don't look for "complexity' in a perla/half corona. i look for consistency of a signature flavour profile.

Thats fair. I don’t typically expect a wide range of flavor notes from these smaller vitolas, but when it’s there, I’d like those flavors to persist throughout the smoke 😛
