Whiskey and cigar lounge to open in Springboro

A new lounge with a focus on spirits and smokes is prepped to open by end of summer in Warren County.

The 70/70 Social Club, located on 140 S. Main St. in Springboro, will offer a wide variety of whiskey and cigars for customers to enjoy.

The whiskey pours will be by ounces, and 70/70 will offer a wide variety, including bourbon, Canadian whiskey, scotch, Irish whiskey, Tennessee whiskey and more. Along with pours, the establishment will serve whiskey-based cocktails, such as a Manhattan, old fashioned and mint julep.

Light food like shrimp cocktail, tea sandwiches and charcuterie boards will be available as well. The lounge will hold more than 1,300 different cigars, which will be kept in a humidor and available to smoke on the outside patio.

The cigar selection will feature some common entry-level cigars for new smokers, plus some high-end options for special occasions.

The 2,000-square-foot space will provide a speakeasy-type atmosphere featuring low lighting, soft music and couch seating. The lounge also will feature a bar made of white oak, the same wood used for bourbon barrels.

Zach Bailey, owner of 70/70 Social Club with his wife, Casey, decided to embark on this venture not only due to his fondness for whiskey and cigars, but because he wanted to offer local residents a place of comfort.

"This is an atmosphere where everybody can come in, hang out, have a conversation and get to know one another," Bailey said. "That's what we wanted to create: a warm atmosphere where people just feel like they're welcome."

Funny to see this...I'm one town over from this and it was supposed to open back in February. Lots of delays, apparently, but glad to see them finally getting close. I'll certainly be checking it out and giving them some business, though I wish cigar smoking was allowed in the lounge, and not just on the patio!
