begoodplz Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Diving into my first Trinidad experience with a Vigia from a young box dated 08/2023, I was intrigued by what this mild to medium-bodied cigar would offer. Using a punch cut, the draw was impressively wide open (unusual for most Cubans I've smoked so far), a perfect start after storing it at an ideal 65% RH and 65 degrees F. The initial puffs were a revelation of light and creamy textures, infused with distinct grassy and sweet notes, setting a refreshing tone for the session. As the session progressed into the second third, an unexpected twist occurred. Through the retrohale, a peppery intensity emerged, mingling with the ongoing creamy and grassy notes. This peppery surge added a complex layer I hadn't anticipated, enriching the smoking experience with its bold character while maintaining the Vigia's inherent smoothness. Moving into the final third, the Vigia asserted itself as a full medium strength cigar, rounding out an intriguing evolution in its profile. This unexpected transformation added a punchy conclusion to a smoking session that I thought was going to be light. My introduction to Trinidad through the Vigia was exceptional, marking a memorable milestone in my cigar journey and leaving me wanting to try other Trinidad vitolas. Rating: 8.9 / 10 2
