rumrogue Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 I love Bolivars and what a great name for a cigar. I’ve had this one sat in the sweetie box for a fair while now, saving it for the right occasion. As one should, given this beauty’s reputation. I’m a Gigantes virgin, so to speak, & I thought it best to sample it’s delights when the head was in a mellow, content place. Friday was my birthday &, as it had been a tough week, my supermodel wife decided I needed pampering. So, dinner for two at home. Black Tie. Miles playing Kind of Blue in the background, pre-dinner cocktails. Nice. Escargot followed by freshly-caught-that-morning Manx lobster accompanied by a 2002 Chassagne-Montrachet. Outstanding! I love my wife! Poured a very large 15 year-old El Dorado & settled down with said Gigantes. For the picky among us, I have no idea as to the cigar’s vintage. It came in a sample pack I bought but I do know it was from a Cab. Jeez, what a smoke. Flawless, dark, silky smooth wrapper, a real beauty. Smelt strong and powerful with some chocolate and earth. Draw was just the way I like it: fair amount of resistance, but not too much & the burn was perfectly even. It started off surprisingly mild, with vanilla and nutty flavours changing slowly to more chocolate and earth & finishing with typical Bolivar spice. A very well balanced and complex smoke. Awesome! Bloody good value too as it gave me two hours of sheer bliss. Thought I’d died & gone to heaven. So good in fact I’ve just ordered a box!

That sounds like my kind of evening. Happy belated. The CG is about my all time favorite Churchill, maybe all around cigar next to my Ex #4's.
