TacoSauce Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Reading posts here and elsewhere I observe that there is a contingent of people who love the cherry notes from R&J. In the few R&J I've had, I've only tasted cherry briefly in the final inch of of the cigar once it gets hot. However I had my first "cherry bomb" today and thought cherry lovers should be notified: the Caldwell Midnight Express in Corona. First inch: light rye bread which transitions into a rich caramel flavor Next inch: Caramel and an intense cherry flavor -- captivating and not overly sweet Next 1.5 inches: Solid and strong cherry flavor -- very pleasant Remainder: harsh cherry with a persistent note of ammonia. Cigar became very soft and had to be tossed early Burn was terrible throughout. The wrapper and binder were bordering on fire-proof. Due to the burn issues, I can't really recommend this cigar, but the cherry flavor was so overt that cherry lovers might take a risk on trying a single stick. 2 1
clickbangdoh Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Sounds interesting, would be interested how it smoked once it dried out as it sounds like it was way to wet.

Certainly possible that it was too wet. However, it had a nice rest in the humidor after purchase and others that arrived in the same shipment have been smoking well. Reading between the lines, are you suggesting that the cherry flavor might be a consequence of the wonky burn rather than the blend itself? That is an interesting idea.
