Popular Post shokao Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 Setup: Weather is 19°C (66 °F), cloudy day (rained all week basically) Stored at 18°C (64 °F) at 69% RH for 23 days First third: I was surprised with how much sweetness this cigar presents right at the beginning. After a few minutes, I get notes of coffee and brown sugar. Although I don't feel any pepper, I find the retrohale a little aggressive for my taste as I sense red pepper in the end which indicates for me that after a few more months it'll be spot on. The aroma reminds me of honey and malt. The construction is gorgeous and you can see while holding the cigar in your hands that it's extremely well rolled. For me, it's a medium bodied cigar which I enjoy. Second third: Starts with toasted tobacco with chocolate showing up alongside the same nuances as first third but more smooth. It still presents the red pepper in retrohale which bothers me a little... I would like a smoother ending in that aspect, but as I said before, I think that after a few months it will be perfect since I can perceive a tremendous potential. After a while, the brown sugar sweetness is gone and honey comes into play leaving a really nice aroma in the air. Now I feel that the cigar is "stable" and the ride is now comfortable and rich. In the middle of second third, I can taste cream cracker and latte. Really great range of flavors and aromas. Last third: The pleasant sweetness is still there with stable flavors and no sign of any bitterness - which I was worried since it's not been 30 days since I got them. At last, more toasted tobacco and coffee beans with chocolate turns into a strong cocoa but well balanced. At this point, it required a few touch ups but I would blame the rainy wind that comes with cloudy days. For me, is a 91 point cigar with potential to go even further (maybe 94 or 95). Will be ordering more pretty soon, for sure. 7
