Popular Post sjbliven Posted October 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 17, 2022 I set out last night to run a 2013 Montecarlo up against a 2019. I wanted to test the 5 years of age and a PLPC or MC turns to a full caramel bomb thing. I didn’t have a ‘17, so I went with what I had. Note, I have always gotten more caramel out of a PLPC than a PLMC. I started with this -LGR OCT19- 3 year old stick. First off, pre light it was a beauty! Thanks FOH! Full barnyard on the nose with this little twinge of such subtle sweetness. I sat and admired it for 20 minutes before I set it on fire! The draw was perfect! First (and second) third: As I was smoking this, I was thinking about my stock of these (which is pretty solid imo), and seriously doubting that I had enough! Cuban tobacco. The scent of the thick smoke was so rich. Mouth coating leather, with a mildly sweet bready accent with a woodiness in the background. Maybe that sweet bready note is what is transitioning into full out caramel? Final third: More of the same, but ramped up to medium +. The sweetness that existed was most prevalent here, but only for 3 or 4 puffs. This was a seriously good “cheap” cigar, that is as good as most everything out there. I couldn’t wait to smoke the 2013 to see if any elevation to full caramel was there. So, as I am nowhere near a professional, I realized as I walked upstairs to grab the 2013 (unknown box code), that I had really put a dent into the Nikka From the Barrel that I was drinking….. I trudged on though! 2013 was good too………… that was about the recollection I had unfortunately. I will try again! 10 1
