Popular Post ha_banos Posted July 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 3, 2022 2 Robusto today. Before I spotted this so here goes. The Coro was the follow up. 2nd cigar of the day. Turned out to be the final one. And what a finish. A firm cigar. Well filled and consistent throughout. It's already well aged and the band popped loose easily. One prominent vein along its length. And a rather pale, smart wrapper. The cold aroma is characteristic Cuban. Sniffing through the foot reinforces the familiarity. A slightly sweet grassy aroma. Straight cut. I press the cigar into the cutter during the cut. I find for the larger ring guage it gives a straighter, neater slice. Cap pops straight off. Toast the foot for a good minute taking in the aroma. Again that sweet, grassy but with some richness to it now. Some use the word meaty. Then blow through and hold up the flame to light the foot and take first draw. Smooth as. A little creamy sweetness with that grassyness even at 5 years. It's a firm draw so takes a couple of draws to get the smoke going. Straight out and dilute the smoke for a retrohale. Smooth and satisfying. That Cuban twang is there. Happy days. No pepper or spice. Smooth, oily, a sweetness. Cool. Second third much the same actually. Quality, enjoyable depth, a slightly rich aromatic, touch of creaminess to the smoke. I don't do flavor comparisons. Get to the last third, it picks up in this richness. More meaty now. Still smooth, cool and slightly sweet. Now the only thing that marred it was the relights among the way. Which increased as it went. I made sure to purge, tap the loose ash before relighting. So may have lost some of it this way. A 96er though. Smooth, tasty, aromatic, cool and satisfying. Darn you Coro. For your current price. But there many other aged regulars out there that also provided this experience. So all is not lost. 13
