Bidding on all event lots ends on July 5th. https://www.bondroberts.com/search   Over the next few days we will highlight some of the event listings in one email daily, in place of our regular New Listings emails.   La Gloria Cubana Regionals For this event we are lucky to have the first two La Gloria Cubana Regional releases made by Habanos. • La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos Edición Regional Reino Unido (10) (2008) • La Gloria Cubana Deliciosos Edición Regional Cuba (25) (2009) Released in 2008, the La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos was the first La Gloria Cubana Regional Edition. Since release, always hard to find, there were only 2,040 boxes of 10 made. 20,400 cigars in total, making it one of the rarest regionals ever made. Regional releases of such a small number have not been possible for a long time. Presented in a semi-boite nature box of 10. As far as we know, this was the first box with curved sides in this format (a single layer of 10, not 8-9-8) since the 1980s. The bands are truly glorious, with high-relief embossing and colours much bolder than on the standard La Glorisa Cubana releases.

 

 

We sampled some of these cigars earlier this year and they are smoking beautifully. A Gorgeous box. La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos Edición Regional Reino Unido (2008) Click Here The La Gloria Cubana Deliciosos, the first jar produced for a Regional Edition and it is beautiful. The first Regional Edition for Cuba. 2,000 jars of 25 produced. These sold out very quickly. We are still kicking ourselves when we were offered a second one of these jars, having bought one, at the La Casa del Habano in Club Havana, Playa, Havana in February, 2011. I turned them down, thinking that another one of our group would want it. They didn’t, and there we left it, on a shelf for the original asking price of $246.00! With the rarity of this release, prices have gone up somewhat over the last 13 years. They are still one of the most beautiful jars ever to come out of Cuba. And great cigars. La Gloria Cubana Deliciosos Edición Regional Cuba (2009) Click Here     Por Larrañaga has had some of the best and most sought-after Regional Releases since 2006. We have four of them listed as part of this event.   Por Larrañaga Magnificos Edición Regional Reino Unido (10) (2007) Por Larrañaga Belicosos Extra Edición Regional Asia Pacifico (25) (2008 Por Larrañaga Secretos Edición Regional España (25) (2013) Por Larrañaga Coronas Edición Regional Alemania (50) (2017) From one of the smallest Regionals, the Por Larrañaga Secretos España from 2013, to one of the rarest, the Por Larrañaga Magnificos. In 2007 these were released in 1,020 boxes of 10 and 408 boxes of 25 for a total of 20,400 cigars. This was the first release to have that beautiful band designed by Simon Chase, with the polished gold look on brushed gold. It is a beautiful thing.

Since then, there have been some great releases. We have two Diplomáticos Regional Editions, out of a total of seven releases, as part our current event.   Diplomáticos Bushido Edición Regional Asia Pacifico (25) (2015) Diplomáticos Excelencia Edición Regional Cuba (10) (2015)   The Diplomáticos Bushido is a lovely release. A varnished Boite-Nature of 25 cigars, with a beautiful black and gold cardboard outer. The first Regional to get packaging like this. We have been lucky to have smoked a few of these of the last year or two and they have been great cigars. Diplomáticos Bushido Edición Regional Asia Pacifico (2015) Click Here The Diplomáticos Excelencia was the third Regional release for Cuba and the first ever Robusto format in the Diplomático brand. Great cigars, the wrappers on all of the examples we have seen and sampled have been lovely. Diplomáticos Excelencia Edición Regional Cuba (2015) Click Here   Spanish Regionals   Spain was a little late getting its first regional. But when it did, with the Vegas Robaina Maestros in 2007, it did with a bang and released 20,000 boxes of 10 cigars. At that time, by far the largest release size for a Regional Edition. We have one of these listed at this event as well as four of the other Regional Editions for Spain. There were also lots of the Por Larrañaga Secretos, El Rey del Mundo Petit Robustos and Saint Luis Rey San Luis Tesoros released but these became rare really quite quickly and are very hard to find now.   Vegas Robaina Maestros Edición Regional España (2007) Click Here Por Larrañaga Secretos Edición Regional España (2013) Click Here El Rey del Mundo Petit Robustos Edición Regional España (2015) Click Here Saint Luis Rey San Luis Tesoros Edición Regional España (2016) Click Here   Cabinets of 50 (50 Cabs)   As collectors, we can probably all remember our first 50 Cab. Sliding that lid off and gingerly lifting out the hexagon of cigars by edges of the paper to take a sniff of the feet. That wonderful smell of cedar and the earthy, horsey, aged tea and very slightly cheesy aroma of aging Cuban tobacco. Like white truffles or an aged whiskey, every time we smell the feet of a cabinet of 50 cigars, no matter how many times, we are surprised by the depth and complexity of the aromas. The cabinet of 50, or “Half-wheel” (media rueda). One the greatest packaging types that cigars have ever been sold in. They look so well and age so well. Only high-quality cigars were ever packaged in this format and sadly so many have been discontinued in the last 20 years. There are nine 50 Cabs listed as part of our current event.
