Tried and true and a top five everyday cigar. This is one of those great value cigars. When they are on, they are spot on. When they are off, they’re still very smokable. This box is a little special to me. I bought it to share with my four coworkers when I went to get SWAT certification school in Orange County. I still have a few left that I’ll save down the road.

Cold draw: sweet tobacco. Good construction with the perfect amount of resistance.

First third: the cigar starts with a simple toasted tobacco note. Wood and leather are in the background. Chocolate peeks it’s head into the mix toward the end of this third.

Second third: flavors pick up in intensity. The chocolate is more dominant and is accompanied by cream. Toasted tobacco is at the base.

Final third: the cigar finishes much like the second half with some earthy notes as more of the base. The cigar gets hot with about three quarter of an inch left.

Overall a good cigar. Not great, but I rarely set my expectations high on a monte 4. Total smoke time 45 min. Fantastic construction with zero touch ups.  89/100
