Popular Post maverickdrinker Posted July 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2020 The wrapper is a dark chestnut hue. Impeccable construction. Firm throughout the cigar with a slight give when squeezed. The triple cap is decent. Slight bumpiness near the bottom. The foot is well pack. Aromas of barnyard and heavy mocha emanate from the wrapper. Pungent. A quick nap of my Palio and we are ready to roll. The draw is nice. Good air flow with a slight resistance. Leather, earth, brown sugar and touches of expresso come from the cold draw. First ThirdHeavy to start. Takes me by surprise. Strength is medium to full. Did not expect this at all. Wow. The draw and smoke production are excellent. Good air flow and copious amounts of blue smoke rise into the evening air. The burn is razor sharp and the ash is a ‘dirty’ white. The retrohale is muscular. Heavy layers of cedar, cocoa, earth and leather. Assertive as it moves through the nasal passages. The after finish is very complex. The medium to full bodied strength allows the flavours to linger on the palate to get the full experience. Cedar, leather, earth and cocoa, followed by grassy notes, mocha and a touch of sweetness. Makes you ease back to enjoy the flavours and to let the palate recover. This is strikingly good. Second ThirdStrength level has toned down to a medium bodied level. Flavour profile has added a few highlights and changed slightly. Smoother now. The retrohale brings cocoa, grassy notes, leather and a mint note as it moves through the nasal passages. A nice change of pace. The after finish bring cocoa, grassy note, leather and mint, followed by light cedar, expresso and more mint and a touch of molasses. Interesting combination of flavours that is supported well by the medium bodied strength level. The changes in flavours build and then suddenly it’s all different by the second third. Beautiful. Final ThirdThe retrohale brings roasted nuts, mint, leather and touches of cocoa as it moves through the nasal passages. Beautiful. The after finish is just delicious. Roasted nuts, mint, leather and touches of cocoa and earth, followed by grassy notes, molasses and light cedar. Crazy good right now. In fact, all 3 parts were good. Surprised how distinctive the flavour profile changes were throughout the cigar. Impressive, the level of complexity that this cigar has. Sad to see we are nearing the end... Final Impressions This was outstanding. I did not anticipate this at all. What an evolution this cigar has gone through. Three distinct flavour profiles in one cigar. Incredible. I don’t think I’ve experienced that before. I remember wondering if the Edicion Limitada releases would age well due to the maduro wrapper. If this is an example of the possibilities that are to come, this makes me very happy. The core grassy, creamy, cocoa notes of Cohiba DNA are present however, the nuance and additional flavours make this stunningly good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 17
