Popular Post MigsG Posted April 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 13, 2020 Brought out a big gun yesterday. I’ve had this stick since January, thanks to @slowsmoke, a very generous BOTL. This is one of those fancy Cubans I’d always wanted to try. First third: upon lighting, I’m already met with a nice mellow yet dark chocolate creme and similarly mellow sweetness. It’s at a medium at this point. This cigar doesn’t wait to please. You know you’re smoking a luxurious high end product right off the bat. It’s not complex, but it is a maduro after all. I can tell it’s been aged properly. It’s smooth, like some excellent non-Cubans. Middle third continues the flavors, with maybe a hint of espresso. Flavor tones down a bit. Still fantastic. Final third ramps up to a medium/full of the same flavors, but ramped up the espresso and with the addition of a tiny bit of spice. Consistent delivery of the mellow sweetness. The nicotine ramped up at this point and I actually felt it, even though I’d been smoking NCs like every other day these past couple of months. Long lasting cigar, I enjoyed it for a full hour and 40 minutes. It could have probably gone another 5-10 minutes but I didn’t want to end on a bitter note so I put it down before it even had a chance to get there. I paired this with one of the best blended Scotches I’ve ever had, the Naked Grouse. I found it to be a great pairing. I honestly couldn’t tell that it was a Cohiba. But that didn’t matter. It was a fabulous maduro, that seemed to follow in the footsteps of some great medium bodied NC maduros. I rate it a 95. Being an ‘18 with almost 2 additional years over the already aged tobacco probably did it a whole lot of good. A very satisfying experience that I won’t forget anytime soon. 11
