SirVantes Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 For those of us under lockdown, who’ve had to cancel travel plans, there remains the option of travelling vicariously via books. I prefer the more meditative travelogues or memoirs. Here’s one I’ve just finished, and another I’m starting this long weekend. What travel books are FOHers, a literate crowd, reading under lockdown? 2
shippers Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I have been reading Around the World in 80 Cigars: The Travels of an Epicure by Nick Hammond. You might have come across some of his writing before in Cigar Aficionado or other magazines. The book is part travel part stories and very good. You can also get a digital copy of another one of his books Cinco Decadas, the Rise of the Nicaraguan Cigar for free at the moment. A lot of nice pictures / information about Nicaragua. 4
Deeg Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I've been re-watching some of Michael Palin's marvelous old BBC travelogues (Around the World in 80 Days and Pole to Pole so far) and Rick Steves' PBS European travel series. 4
