Popular Post djrey Posted April 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 5, 2020 Pulling out a single that I have been holding onto from a box split years ago. Apologies as I do not know the month or factory code but do remember being 2013. very nice construction, light medium brown wrapper with moderate oils. Nice draw as the cigar begins with a near perfect burn. Flavors in the first 3rd are very light. Cigars produces plumes if smoke that produces a nice cream that holds on the palate for a minute or more. Second third begins with some roasty wood notes. Picking up in body a bit so we are creeping towards medium. End of second third and we are at a solid medium. Mostly getting creamy nutty flavors. Smoke remains smooth and the burn is perfect. Final third and we are still holding medium. Same core flavors, nuttiness with cream and some wood (cedar?) with a slight intro of dark chocolate. My favorite part of the cigar as now we have some flavor! Overall I’m going with an 85. Started out pretty bland and boring. Opened up a bit but never wowed me. Pretty one dimensional the whole way through just getting a bit stronger flavor wise. I’ve heard Monte 2’s should be selected to get a cracker. This was not and maybe that’s why it’s just simply an ok smoke for me. 5
Bagman Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I had a lot of 2013 Monty #2. They were at the best 2 years ago. Last year they were still pretty good, just not as good. I saved one to smoke this year and it was past it's prime.
