Grateful13 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I recently bought this single at a German LCDH along with about 15 other vitolas I have not had before, and it’s been in my humidor about 45 days. I didn’t write the box code down but it was 2017. Wrapper is smooth, light color, no sheen. I give it a V cut and the draw is a little more open than average, very good. Sweet tobacco flavor. The cigar starts off more mild than I expected but the flavor is on point. This might be the most pure expression of “Cuban twang” I’ve tasted in a cigar so far. Just clean sweet tobacco with hints of dry cocoa, leather, light coffee, and plenty of mineral/saltiness. A bit like a Monte 4 but more mild. Not much evolution through the smoke, same flavor throughout. No harshness at all even at the end, this one seemed like it had more than 2 years age. I came close to nubbing it and that’s rare for me. The burn is razor sharp requiring no touch ups and it never goes out even after sitting a few minutes. Perfect construction. Overall, a very enjoyable if one dimensional smoke. I score it 87-88 and could definitely see this being part of a regular rotation. Much better than the SP Non Plus I tried last week. I think I’ll have to get a box soon. 4
THEMISCHMAN Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Nice review. I get a very enjoyable wood note from them and they are one of my favorites. My SOM 16 and RAE 14 boxes have been great.
