Popular Post FatPete Posted June 10, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 10, 2019 José L. Piedra Cazadores (JLP Cazadores) GEO OCT 14 6"x43 RG (Lonsdale-ish) From humidor at 64RH, dry boxed 2 days. Appearance:wonderful dark oily wrapper, even at almost 5 years of age. I think there must have been plenty of good leaf around in 2014, as you wouldn't expect to find such nice wrappers on your average current premium cigar, let alone a budget one such as this. Sweet earthy tobacco aroma at cold, and ideal draw, which I find is always the case with these, probably because they are short filler tobacco. First Third Rich tobacco with nice sweet black coffee to open, and stays that way for this third. Very little aftertaste. Second third Coffee and molasses, medium body. Last third Up to full on the gauge now, sweetness gradually fades, leaving strong black coffee. Towards the end gets earthy, then bitter at the band. Burn was spot on all the way, the ash looked like a stack of silver coins, and held for an inch before dropping. Conclusion:Never had a young one of these, but all the ones I've had with a few years on them I've enjoyed. Little by way of evolution with these. Quite straightforward Cuban tobacco & coffee taste usually, which doesn't linger and is a little dry, but as yet I've never had a dud. That alone makes me always have some on hand. 7/10 7
