Popular Post Islandboy Posted March 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2019 Not everyone’s a fan of the Cohiba grassy element, but I am. And the Lancero is perhaps my favorite of the Marca. Aside from tasting fantastic, the appearance and feel of a CoLa just exudes elegance. Just the second stick plucked from this young box, this comp gave all the encouragement I needed to justify a core sample. After clipping, the draw was perfect - not something that can always be said with this cigar. Cold aroma is barnyard with a touch of honey sweetness. First few puffs are a bit peppery, especially on the retro hale, but it begins with the usual suspects of grass or hay, honey, and a slight citrus twang. The long finish always impresses me, and soon into this one I’m experiencing a wonderful caramel coffee finish that lingers for several seconds. As I smoke it down, the flavors seem to increase in richness. I’ve also now got a base of full-blown lemongrass, honey, and coffee. A slight white pepper element remains, a sure sign of youth. While I’m enjoying this one a lot, I can’t help to ponder what this particular box will taste like given a few more years. In the final third, the richness in taste doesn’t increase quite on the scale of a few previous CoLas I’ve had, and the slight bite of pepper remains. But the overwhelming flavors are lemongrass, honey, coffee and graham cracker. And the long finish of caramel coffee is still doin' its thang. Not quite as tasty as the best ones I’ve had, but still very enjoyable and nub worthy. Draw and burn were good to the end. Time will be kind to these. I give it a solid 90. 5 2
SwissPEP Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Need to get my hands on one of these Lanceros Thanks for sharing
TheMonk Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 One of my favorite Cohibas! When they're very good, they're just brilliant for me. Even though that wasn't exactly the case here, great job with the review!
