Popular Post mrmessy Posted March 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2019 This was a split from a tubos box. Kept in the tubo in the humidor. What a hefty cigar. It's about the max size that I would prefer. The construction looks fantastic. Well packed, no seams, and only a slight visible vein. Used the Siglo V cut, thanks@raskol. The cold draw was of dried apricots. The aroma of the cigar was very nice but I'm the lighter side. Bit of barnyard and earth. On the light, I was surprised at the lack of strong flavors. It was a grassy earth that prevailed for most of the smoke. Well into the first third and through the second third, there was an ammonia like taste. Not the best, but I take it that this cigar just need some more time down. The second third did bring in some leather along with hay and grass. The burn started to get a little wonky and a touch up was necessary. But otherwise, construction and draw were still great. The last third brought on a surprising spice. Maybe it's from the heat, I tend to draw strongly on cigars. The spice didn't last long. Overall a young cigar that needs more downtime. Maybe being in the tubo requires a longer testing period or I'll try taking them out of the tubo to let the flavors develop more. I'm mainly surprised at how light the flavors were. I think in a few more years it will be much more enjoyable. BTW, if you haven't tried Foursquare rum, I can't recommend it enough. I'm not a fan of the overly sweet rums that exist. Foursquare doesn't add any additional sugars or colors. And at 86 proof, it is a dangerously easy to drink rum. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk 6
BenW Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Nice review! Big fan of Foursquare's Exceptional Cask series too, some really good rums.
spicycorona Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 The Piramides Extra have big potential for me. I've had a few that were exceptional.
Raskol Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Had a few Cohiba Piramide Tubos (TOS SEP16) myself, still find them young. Another 6 months till the next one. Nice review & thank you.
